Dental Care for Uninsured Kids
Parents take care of the children, especially of their health. Dental health is considered to be the most important issue concerning kids as they cannot care for their teeth on their own and parents need pay more attention to their dental health. Parents are especially happy when there is a dental office not far from their house that can provide dental care services such as x-rays, cleanings and screenings to kids.
A new dental clinic called Miles for Smiles is now open and a lot of kids and their parents can get dental care services rather fast. Generally speaking, Miles for Smiles is represented as a mobile dental clinic and it usually provides dental services for kids in about eleven counties. Thanks to the growing demand for this clinic and dental services, the dentists managed to expand their services and to open an office at The Center, nearby Bolivar Cinema. The history of Miles for Smiles started in 1999.
At that time, this mobile clinic was equipped with only one-chair mobile dental unit and the main mission of this clinic was to provide dental services to uninsured kids in five counties. The opportunity to develop was presented when the Missouri Foundation of Health provided a grant to this mobile clinic and the RV was equipped with a two-chair unit. Thanks to this opportunity, kids from eleven Missouri counties got a chance to receive the needed dental care on time.
It must be noted that seven of these eleven counties do not have dental offices that would serve dental care to Medicaid children. Thanks to cooperation with schools and health organizations, Miles for Smiles may arrange locations where the dentists will be provided with the services. For all the time, this mobile clinic has managed to serve about 40,000 kids. Any parent can make an appointment or to get more information on how to treat dental diseases.
