No Surgery When Treating Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease is such a disease that primarily affects the foundation of your teeth. So it is very important to pay attention to the problem from the very beginning and to start treatment as soon as you felt the first signs of periodontal disease. Periodontal structures are a system of elements which include gums, cementum, alveolar bone and ligaments. Cementum is a solid material which covers the roots of teeth and the ligament makes your teeth hold the bone.
When at least one of the elements is damaged, the whole system starts to function in the wrong way and eventually you get periodontal disease. The most frequent cause of periodontal disease is an infection, such as, for example, gingivitis or periodontal abscess. As any other infection, these manifestations may be acute or chronic and cause severe sudden pain or mild pain that will be present for a long time period. Whatever your pain is, it is important to remember that treatment should be started and it is better to contact your local dentist immediately when you feel some discomfort or pain in your mouth. But, fortunately periodontal, disease does not always mean surgery.
There are many alternative ways of treating this disease. Certainly, before you decide have a surgery, you should try all non-surgical methods. The main cause of most dental diseases is plaque formation which is formed on the surface of teeth and gums. That is why it is crucial to brush your teeth twice a day and rinse your mouth after every meal you have during the day.
Besides, by removing food between the teeth using dental floss, you do not give the infection a chance to spread in the mouth. Visit your dentist regularly. As periodontal disease proceeds asymptomatically on early stages, than only an experienced dentist will be able to identify its early symptoms and to start treatment before the pain appears.
