Dentists Accused of Treating Skin Conditions
There are different health problems that can be treated by dentists and other doctors. That is why a lot of dermatologists consider that the involvement of dentists into treating some skin diseases may result in a lot of other negative consequences. Besides, there are a lot of cases when skin doctors need to fix the mistakes made by dentists when they wanted to treat patients with skin conditions.
The engagement of other doctors into the sphere of dermatology may be harmful for the health of patients. Such doctors as dentists start practicing to inject Botox, decreasing a number of wrinkles with certain fillers without knowing possible side effects of these operations. Additionally, the number of such cases increases with each day and there is no accurate statistics on how many operations are executed every day.
There are a lot of cases of unsuccessful treatment of skin issues and any doctor needs to be qualified to perform this sort of injections and operations. People pay their money to get the needed effects but they do not have to overpay to correct the consequences of the interventions of doctors that do not have a clue of what they are doing. Besides, qualified dermatologists do not fight for their money but for the quality of the services that may be provided.
To become a real dermatologist, a person needs to complete three years of extensive training and it is not right when, for example, a dentist starts practicing in this sphere of medicine. You cannot learn the main principles of dermatology for several weeks. That is why such a reputable organization as the American Academy of Dermatology asks patients that are planning some operations to address qualified dermatologists only. Any dermatologist needs to be board-certified and just in this case, you can expect certain professional services.
