Free Dental Care for Families
Quirt Family Dentistry announced that it will provide free dental care to people in need during the celebration of the National Free Dentistry Day on August 15. The clinic made the announcement last Monday.
Patients who visit Quirt Family Dentistry from 8 am to 2 pm will be given the option to of a free cleaning, extraction, or filling. They will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. The Free Dentistry Day was made to serve people who have no dental insurance but Betsy Krekling, member relations coordinator of the Wisconsin Dental Association, said that it could also involve people who have insurance but can’t find a dental office that accepts their provider.
Krekling said that one of the largest problems in the state of Wisconsin is the lack of access to dental care. Some patients have insurance but there are some dentists who don’t accept some of the insurance providers.
The National Association of Dental Plans said that around 120 million people across the nation don’t have dental insurance. Dr. Joseph Ferraro and Dr. Timothy Quirt will work with their workers and volunteers to treat patients during the day.
There are lots of people from Wausau who require dental services but don’t have the means to afford them. They don’t have dental insurance or out of job. In a press release, Dr. Quirt said that the National Free Dentistry Day is a good opportunity for them to give back to the community. They will share their researches and time with the less fortunate ones.
Free Dentistry Day was created to provide aid to adult Americans who can’t afford dental care on their own. Last year, the event had more than 2,500 patients treated and more than $1,000,000 in free dentistry treatment during the day. Untreated oral problems can lead to periodontal disease, misaligning teeth, and tooth loss.
