Public’s Perception towards Dental Care to Be Improved

The recent rollout of the Affordable Care Act or ACA has increased the affordability and availability of medical coverage but dental benefits are still seen as a luxury by most Americans. Dental professionals want to change the public’s perception towards dental care.
According to the American Dental Association, the Affordable Care Act covers dental care of around 26 million Americans, most of them are Medicare recipients and children. Around 127 million Americans don’t have dental coverage. Most of the people without insurance can’t afford basic preventive dental care.
There’s a new concept that has been seen used by local dentists. They provide comprehensive dental care packages to patients at very affordable prices. Dental professionals, patients, and even the major news media outlets have seen the trend emerging. One of the plans is known as the Quality Dental Plan and is just one of the five solutions for patients who don’t have dental insurance coverage.
Most consumers don’t know about the differences between medical insurance and dental insurance. QDP Founder Dan Marut, DMD, said that dentists don’t require their patients to have insurance coverage should as medical doctors because they know that dental care can be expensive, dental insurance isn’t always part of the employer’s benefit plan. Dental coverage is not part of any Affordable Care Act plans. That’s why he created Quality Dental Plan to fill the hole for private practice dentists.
Patients can sign up with dental practices that are part of the Quality Dental Plan for $25 per month. They will get annual preventive care and take advantage of savings that are only available for members. Dentists who are part of the QDP even offer cosmetic dental services at promo rates for members. Dentists join QDP to be able to provide care to a large number of patients in their communities who don’t have insurance.
